Stepan Avagyan Memorial

The Chess Academy of Armenia together with “Jermuk Ashkharh Health Centre” is organizing an International Chess Tournament: Stepan Avagyan Memorial from May 28 to June 6, 2025 in Jermuk, Armenia. The tournament is held in a 10-player GM norm round-robin format, in 9 rounds and is a FIDE category 17 event.

Time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game (with 30 seconds increment starting from move one).

The total prize fund is 7 450 000 AMD (≈ 18 400 USD).

1st  place – 3 100 000

2nd place – 1 850 000

3rd place – 1 500 000

4th place – 1 000 000

*All prizes are subject to income tax implications according to the laws of the Republic of Armenia.

Tie breaks will be carried out according to the following rules.

a) Sonneborn Berger,

b) colour,

c) personal game,

d) number of victories,

In case of a tie the monetary prizes are distributed equally.
